Located just outside the lakeside village of Bowness-on-Windermere, Lindeth Howe overlooks Lake Windermere, the largest lake in the country and the Cumbrian fells beyond.

This unique 4 star country house hotel was once owned by the best-loved children’s author Beatrix Potter, and boasts 34 beautiful bedrooms, cosy lounges and a fantastic 2 AA Rosette Dining Room which is also open to non residents. Guests are also invited to relax by our indoor pool, sauna, fitness room and indulge in various body treatments and massages.

The hotel has 34 beautifully appointed bedrooms, including a brand new suite on the second floor. Many of the rooms have a view over the stunning Lake Windermere or our attractive and well kept gardens and we also have 2 easy access rooms on the ground floor.

From romantic lake view double deluxes to flexible family suites, we have en-suite bedrooms to suit everyone and for any occasion. With 34 beautifully appointed bedrooms, each room is your own luxurious little haven.

All rooms are ensuite and have a bath, shower, tea and coffee making facilities, free of charge WiFi Internet connection, hair dryer and a digital flat screen TV with radio. Many of the rooms have either spectacular views over Lake Windermere, our Garden or the Woodland and beyond. For that extra bit of luxury, our Deluxe rooms offer everything listed above as well as a dvd player, a safe for valuables, chilled water and extra toiletries.

We are proud to cater for all needs, we have two rooms which provide easy access on the ground floor with wheelchair facilities and a range of family rooms, perfect for families with young children

The Dining Room

The Lake District is renowned for its excellent local food. At Lindeth Howe, we are proud to extend this reputation by providing only the best locally sourced produce which is available seasonally. The seasonal menus offer a variety of fine foods whatever time of the year you choose to dine. We will do our upmost to help with any dietary requirements.

Our Head Chef, Marc Guibert continually upholds our excellent reputation for fine dining. We have been awarded two AA Rosettes and we recently won the Lancashire & Lake District Life Magazine’s Lake District Restaurant of the Year Award. Our chefs strive to prepare food exceeding this excellent standard.

We invite you to enjoy our fabulous dining experience, whether you are a guest staying at the hotel or non resident; although we advise reservations are made in advance to avoid disappointment.

For non residents or Bed & Breakfast Guests, the 5 Course Evening Meal is charged at £44.50, a 2 Course Lunch is £12.95, a 3 Course Lunch is £17.95.

We regret children under the age of 7 are not allowed in the restaurant after 7pm. However, the children’s favourites high tea menu is served between 5pm and 6:30pm.

After a days sightseeing or walking we have the perfect place for you to relax.
Our indoor heated pool with sauna and fitness room is the ideal place to unwind and is also open throughout the day. For added luxury we have a beauty and holistic therapy room offering various massages and body treatments.

Body Therapy
For ultimate relaxation and pampering we can provide luxurious massages from sports therapy to Indian Head massages.
Treatments are bookable in advance and subject to availability.
