The Lamplighter has been run by the Tasker family for over 28 years and over that time we have built an enviable reputation for customer service and the quality of the dishes served.

In the last two years both James and Alistair have now taken over the reigns. Having been brought up in The Lamplighter we all have an emotional connection to this wonderful building and the surrounding area as well as a true passion for the hospitality industry.

Alistair oversees the Kitchen as Head Chef, with an established record over the last 12 years, whilst James oversees the front of house and again has a wealth of experience in the hospitality industry.

Our absolute focus remains our guests and the quality of the produce that we deliver.

With such a wealth of knowledge and true passion for what we do we believe we set ourselves apart from so many other establishments and can only hope that you will afford us the opportunity to welcome you to The Lamplighter Dining Rooms to experience this for yourselves.

Dining
Either informally in the bar, a romantic dinner in the restaurants, dining al fresco on the terrace or a private party in the Lounge, we have a venue for every occasion.

Speciality evenings:
Wednesday – Curry Night, a British Institution and in true Lamplighter style, these are not just any curries! (Selections change weekly)
Friday – Fish and Seafood night (The freshest Fleetwood fish delivered daily, Scallops, Colchester Oysters, 2kg Turbot to share between 4 guests filleted at your table.
The choices are endless and change weekly depending on what options are at their best throughout the year

Whether popping in for a snack at lunch, indulging in our unique Sunday lunch experience or a full four course meal in the evening, The Lamplighter offers a great selection of locally sourced and themed food and beverage. We also specialise in larger groups, whether a birthday wedding, anniversary or just catching up with friends and family. Only the best is good enough for our guests.

Location
We are the closest bar in Windermere to the main train station and offer a great range of products from premium lagers to an extensive wine list. With so many fabulous breweries in The Lake District, why not sample one of our guest real ales. We will also make cocktails on request to original recipes and only using the finest ingredients. With the bar located within the hotel and in the centre of Windermere village just leave your car and indulge!

The Lamplighter Dining Rooms offers the very best in accommodation in the Lake District.

With all of the guests bedrooms recently refurbished, we have been sympathetic to the Victorian heritage of this traditional Lakeland stone building dating back to 1865.

With private parking on site and free wi-fi access throughout the ground floor, we offer the perfect location from which to explore the beautiful Lake District.
